How Do I Qualify?
As A "Permit" or "Non-Roster", that is, an individual that has not yet become a member or obligated to membership in I.A.T.S.E. Motion Picture Studio First Aid Employees Local 767, thirty (30) days must be achieved within a one (1) year (twelve (12) months) period from your start date in order to be obligated into Local 767, unless the International has organized the show your working on. You cannot qualify for I.A.T.S.E. Local 767 if you have been expulsed from any other I.A.T.S.E. Local upon a charge of violation of a fundamental principle of Unionism, except where such expulsion was for non-payment of financial obligations.
Local 767 prefers at least 2 years Emergency Room or Emergency Ambulance experience prior to application.
You must be licensed in the State of California and renewed by licensure when required with a copy given to our Credentials Committee for verification. Credentials will be thoroughly checked. Any falsification of such presented credentials will be grounds for non acceptance.
There is no fee to have your name placed on the permit/non-roster list.
How Do I Submit a Resume and be place on the Permit /Non Roster List?
Send a resume and a copy of your current credentials to P.O. Box 604 Montrose, California 91201 and we will file them and contact you only when we need to fill our Permit/ Non Roster list. Please do not call to obtain status of your resume.
Once I've Applied, What Next?
Orientation and testing, when feasible, based on need, will be scheduled when our non-roster list is low or depleted. You must appear physically in Los Angeles to do so. The Orientation Committee will supply you with a list of needed essentials when you are oriented.
Industry working conditions can be feast or famine. Calls may be sporadic or no calls at all for several days to months. No work of any nature can be absolutely guaranteed for any duration. A hiatus period of production generally occurs each year approximately through the months of March, April and May.
Once you have successfully placed your name on the non-roster/permit list you will be called for work when work is available for non-roster classification categories. All current members of Local 767 must be employed before non-rosters may be hired. You must be prepared to have resided within this jurisdiction for at least eighteen (18) months prior to application to the International (I.A.T.S.E.)
A reminder: No Call is Guaranteed! It is not advisable to surrender your current work at this time.
What Is A Jurisdiction?
Jurisdiction is an area or areas where one Local cannot intrude upon another Local's geographical working area without express written consent or permission of the affected Local to do so. I.A.T.S.E. Local 767s jurisdiction includes the entire State of California (except for Local 16's area within San Francisco under certain circumstances) and the remaining eleven western states of the USA: Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. If a Producer wishes to take you with them anywhere concerning I.A.T.S.E. Local 767, they may do so without permission of the affected Local. We can travel anywhere.
What Are My Obligations Once I Join The Union?
Becoming a member of I.A.T.S.E. Local 767 will obligate you to this Local and the International I.A.T.S.E.
Financially, it will include a one-time fee payable to I.A.T.S.E. Local 767 and four(4) quarterly dues payments per year. In addition, there may be other one time assessments.
A three-ring book will be issued to you to read and it will be your responsibility to understand all Constitution and ByLaws given to you at that time.To obtain medical, vision care and dental health and welfare benefits, you must initially acquire 600 hours within a six month period and 300 hours every six months thereafter.
What Is A Non-Competitive Agreement?
It is a two(2) page form that must be signed by you during the application for membership procedure required by I.A.T.S.E. Local 767. It stipulates that once obtaining membership in I.A.T.S.E. Local 767, you declare that you will not in any form or manner create a conflict of interest situation or compete as an entity against your fellow 767 members, thus displacing them from their regular duties in place of others.
That you will further recognize I.A.T.S.E. Local 767 as the sole supplier of First Aid Personnel to Producer signatory companies, agree to abide by all contractual obligations, and will not enter into any form of representation agreement with any agent or agency concerning First Aid work who has not previously entered into such an agreement with I.A.T.S.E. Local 767.
Violation of this agreement will enact disciplinary action and/or expulsion from I.A.T.S.E. Local 767 for disloyalty and misconduct unbecoming a member.
There are several contracts for I.A.T.S.E. Local 767, all signed by the International President. They include: the Basic Agreement, Side letter Agreements, Low Budget Agreements, and Commercial Agreements.
